New agreement between the CQC and HSIB

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) and the Healthcare Safety Investigation Branch (HSIB) have published a new memorandum of understanding (MoU) agreement, which sets out how they will work together ‘to promote the safety and wellbeing of people receiving NHS care in England.’

The HSIB was established in 2017 to conduct independent investigations of patient safety concerns in NHS-funded care across England. The agreement between the two bodies is to allow them to operate in an open and transparent way, retaining their own independence to make decisions, while working together to share information and cooperate on national safety.
