Implants
A dental implant is a titanium metal rod which is placed into the jawbone. It is used to support one or more false teeth. In practice, both the false teeth and their supporting rod are known as 'implants'.Implants are a well-established, tried-and-tested treatment. 90 per cent of modern implants last for at least 15 years. You can have any number of teeth replaced with implants - from one single tooth to a complete set. It depends on the state of the bone in your jaw. Your dentist will arrange for a number of special tests to assess the amount of bone still there. Read More
Interdental Brushing
It is a small brush that can be held between your thumb and your fingers. Interdental brushes are available in various sizes which enables you to choose which size is most suitable for you. You may need to use more than one size to enable you to effectively clean all spaces between your teeth.Over the course of a day, food and debris get lodged in between your teeth, and in any gaps you may have. If left, this debris can cause dental decay and gum disease. Removing food debris and plaque with an interdental brush will help keep your breath fresh. Read More
Jaw Problems & Headaches
Dental occlusion is another name for the way your teeth meet when your jaws bite together. The letters TMJ are short for of 'temporo-mandibular joint', which is the joint connecting your lower jaw and your skull. The movement in this joint lets you open and close your mouth and chew from side to side.If your teeth don't fit together properly, you can have problems not only in your teeth themselves, but also the gums, the temporo-mandibular joint or the muscles that move your jaw. These problems are called 'occlusal' problems. Read More
Lost Canine Guidance
Lost Canine Guidance occurs naturally because the long and strong canines withstand the chewing forces when the lower jaw moves from side to side. The top and bottom back teeth do not touch each other. Wear and tear on the tips of the canines, often from tooth grinding (called bruxism) allows the top and bottom back teeth to come into contact. This is called "group function". Any back teeth weakened by fillings are prone to fracture if the canine protection is lost. Read More
Mini Flosser
It is a pre-loaded dental floss holder that makes using dental floss a little easier. The strong, slim and flexible dental floss glides easily between the tight spaces between your teeth. Plaque and food particles can get trapped between your teeth and under the gum line. These can cause gum disease and tooth decay and are in areas a toothbrush can't reach. Flossing removes the plaque and food debris in these difficult areas. Some people find it difficult to use normal floss. Read More
Pit And Fissure Sealants
Sealants are a safe and painless way or protecting your children's teeth from decay. A sealant is a protective plastic coating, which is applied to the biting surfaces of the back teeth. The sealant forms a hard shield that keeps food and bacteria from getting into the tiny grooves in the teeth and causing decay. Sealants are only applied to the back teeth - the molars and premolars. These are the teeth that have pits and fissures on their biting surfaces. Read More
Porcelain Veneers
If you are planning to have a number of veneers the dentist may decide to make a model of the teeth, showing the proposed veneers, made from tooth-coloured wax. This gives you the chance to see how veneers will look before treatment starts and it provides the dentist with the opportunity to calculate the best shape and tooth preparation needed. There is usually an additional cost for the diagnostic wax up and the dentist will give you a written estimate and a treatment plan before treatment starts. Read More
Proximal Brushing
It is a device in two parts. One part is the handle that has been developed from a standard toothbrush so that it holds a small brush head securely. The brush heads are available in various sizes enabling you to choose which size is most suitable for you. These colours are exactly the same as those used in the interdental brush range. You may need to use more than one size to enable you to effectively clean all spaces between your teeth. The proximal brush can be used in all areas of the mouth. Read More
Rapid Maxillary Expander
Resorption is a normal and natural process in which teeth "dissolve" away under pressure from adjacent teeth e.g. baby teeth roots disappear under pressure from the second teeth coming through. Occasionally Mother Nature makes a mistake and a permanent tooth damages another adjacent permanent tooth. A damaged tooth will become loose like a baby tooth. If seen early on x-rays, the tooth causing trouble can be moved away with braces or even extracted. Read More
